SmartKlean Laundry Ball - Best Detergent for Sensitive Skin

The SmartKlean Laundry Ball is the best detergent for sensitive skin.

It's eco-friendly, free of harsh chemicals and fragrance, gentle on the skin, and detergent free. And it won't leave behind residue on your clothing like detergents do. It's an eczema safe laundry detergent alternative, but it's also a great option for those with psoriasis and many other skin conditions. It's natural and non-toxic, so a gentle choice for delicate baby skin as well.

Try it with the SmartKlean Natural Stain Remover for best results.

    • Gentle and great for babies and those with eczema, other skin disorders, and sensitive skin.
    • 100% hypoallergenic.
    • No detergent or soap residue (Did you know: 2% of a garment's weight comes from laundry detergent residue. Ick!)
    • Removes harsh chlorine from your washing water.
    • Doesn't contain SLS (sodium lauryl sulphate) or SLES (sodium laureth sulfate/sodium lauryl ether sulphate), both chemicals and studies have proved how harsh they are on our skin.
    • No added fragrance or brightening agents, which are also harsh on skin.
    • Both the ceramics and magnets contained inside of the laundry ball are natural and 100% biodegradable.
    • The exterior shell is a number 7 plastic, fully recyclable.
    • One ball lasts through 365 washes! It costs approximately $.13 per load.
    • Works in both standard and HE washing machines.
    • Made in the USA.

No need to pre-measure detergent, you can skip the fabric softener and forget the extra rinse. Simply toss the SmartKlean Laundry Ball into the wash and set your water temperature to cold or warm - no need for hot water as the ball cleans best without it. Safe for use with a front load or top load washing machine.

If you've never used a natural laundry product before, please keep in mind:

    • You will want to remove all traces of detergent residue from your washing machine. Follow the easy instructions with the ball and run a vinegar wash before using the SmartKlean Laundry Ball.
    • The chemicals in laundry detergents keep whites bright, but leave horrible chemicals next to your skin. Try using lemons or hydrogen peroxide (1 cup added to the soap dispenser) to whiten and brighten your laundry as needed.
    • If you have hard water, you may need to boost the cleaning power of the SmartKlean Laundry Ball with baking soda (1 cup per full load).
    • If you're looking for a bit of natural fragrance, add a few drops of the essential oil of your choice to a rag and toss into the wash and/or the dryer. Lemon and lavender essential oils would be a great choice.

    1. Love the idea, have some questions star rating

For years I've been trying to use the most natural detergents i could find and i still find some to leave scent, residue etc so i'm really happy to have this product. However i too have the question about cold vs hot water. If i use warm or hot will i ruin the product? I believe it cleans most loads well, but we have some fairly stinky dri fit workout stuff that still stinks after washing. I've not tried added washing soda, but i did add an oxy clean based laundry pod and the stink remained. So i love the idea of this product, i think it works well, for the year's worth of washings you get out of it i believe it's a good value, but i'm not sure it's working for all laundry situations.
[The Eczema Company response: We're so glad you love the laundry ball. We found with stinky laundry it works well to add four drops of tea tree oil in with the clothes and if possible, do a double rinse. Definitely wash on warm too. Hope this helps!]

My Little One has eczema and this is the best thing we have ever tried for ensuring her laundry has nothing that will bother her skin and trigger her eczema. I am so relieved to have found this. Read my full review here: http://mommomonthego.com/the-eczema-company-smartklean-laundry/

    4. Laundry Ball star rating

I followed the instructions for cleaning my washing machine with vinegar and have used the laundry ball 5 times. I added the 1/2 cup washing soda as instructed and found that my laundry is clean and soft when placed in the dryer with no dryer cloth. I like this alternative to the supposedly "clear and free" laundry products that have resulted in skin sensitivity. I am pleased with this product so far.

    6. Works well star rating

I had been using the SmartKlean ball for a couple of years before we had kids and have recently started alternating with soap nuts mostly due to availability more than anything else. I find the same results from both as well. They work well and don't irritate my children's skin. I'll likely keep purchasing both for now.

Like many, I was skeptical about this, but we have used it, and it seems to work well! I love that I don't need to run extra rinses in order to get any laundry detergent residue- saves time and money. The only thing is that it says you must use cold water, and I haven't figured out whether I can use hot or not (which is what I have to do every so often to get rid of buildup in our baby's clothes from all the shea butter we use).

We decided to try this ball because my youngest son has dermatitis, sensitive skin and food allergies. Our clothing is cleaner, softer and has a fresh clean scent. I’m back to order two more balls right now!
